How Do I Turn Off the Alarm on My BirdSnap Camera, or Can I Put It on a Schedule?
Quick Answer
To turn off the alarm sound and/or flashing light, go to Camera Settings → Alarm Settings and toggle off the audio alarm and flashing alarm options. To silence the camera on a schedule (for example, overnight or while you are at work), use the Sleep Mode schedule under Camera Settings → Sleep Settings — during sleep mode, the alarm, recording, and notifications are all paused.
Turning Off the Alarm Entirely
Step 1 — Open the BirdSnap app and tap the settings icon on your camera.
Step 2 — Go to Camera Settings → Alarm Settings.
Step 3 — Toggle off Audio Alarm and/or Flashing Alarm as needed.
With both disabled, the camera will no longer make noise or flash when detecting motion. It will continue to record and send push notifications as normal.
Adjusting Alarm Volume Only
If you want to keep the alarm active but reduce the volume:
Camera Settings → Sound Settings → Alarm Volume
Slide the volume bar down to a lower level. Setting it to zero effectively silences the alarm while keeping the setting available to re-enable later.
Using Sleep Mode to Schedule Quiet Hours
Sleep mode is the best way to automatically pause the alarm (along with recording and notifications) during hours when you do not want the camera active — for example, overnight or during working hours.
Step 1 — Open Camera Settings → Sleep Settings.
Step 2 — Tap Schedule Setting → Add Sleep Plan.
Step 3 — Set the start and end time for the sleep period and choose which days it applies.
Step 4 — Save the schedule.
During the sleep period, the camera will not detect motion, record, sound an alarm, or send notifications. It will automatically resume normal operation when the sleep period ends.
Important: What Pauses During Sleep Mode
| Feature | During sleep mode |
|---|---|
| Motion detection | Paused |
| Recording | Paused |
| Push notifications | Paused |
| Alarm (audio and light) | Paused |
| Live streaming | Still available manually |
| Battery consumption | Reduced |
Sleep mode is also useful for extending battery life during overnight hours when no birds visit.
