How Do I Install the BirdSnap App?

Search for "BirdSnap" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and tap Install. Once downloaded, create a free account and tap Add Device on the home page to pair your feeder. You can also scan the QR code on your BirdSnap packaging to go directly to the download page.

Why BirdSnap App?

The BirdSnap app is your control center for the smart feeder — it handles WiFi pairing, live streaming, video playback, AI bird identification, notifications, and camera settings. Before you can use any of these features, the app needs to be installed and an account created.

How to Install the BirdSnap App — Step by Step

Step 1 — Download the app. Open the App Store (iPhone/iPad) or Google Play Store (Android) and search for "BirdSnap". Tap Get or Install to download. Alternatively, scan the QR code printed on your BirdSnap box or user manual to be taken directly to the correct download page.

Step 2 — Open the app and create an account. Once installed, open BirdSnap and tap Sign Up. Enter your email address, create a password, and verify your email when prompted. If you already have an account, tap Log In instead.

Step 3 — Allow permissions when prompted. For full functionality, allow BirdSnap access to:

  • Notifications — so you receive motion alerts when birds arrive
  • Bluetooth — required only during the initial WiFi pairing of a new device
  • Location — required on Android to scan for available WiFi networks during setup
  • Storage/Photo Library — so snapshots and videos can be saved to your phone's gallery
  • Microphone — enables two-way audio between your phone and the feeder

You can adjust any of these permissions later in your phone's Settings > Apps > BirdSnap.

Step 4 — Add your device. From the BirdSnap home page, tap the + icon or Add Device. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your feeder camera with your WiFi network. Make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network before starting — 5 GHz WiFi is not supported.

The BirdSnap app is available for mobile phones. PC and Mac access is not currently supported.

BirdSnap currently supports two companion apps — BirdSnap (the brand's own app, actively developed) and Vicohome (a more mature, stable alternative). Both apps work with all BirdSnap feeder models.
