How Do I Reset My BirdSnap Feeder?

Quick Answer

To restart your BirdSnap camera, long-press the power button until the device powers off, then press it again to turn it back on. For a full factory reset (needed when re-pairing to a new WiFi network or troubleshooting a persistent issue), insert a pin into the reset hole beside the USB port of the camera for 3 seconds until the blue LED begins to flash. A reset will not delete your bird photo or video history stored in the cloud.

Two Types of Reset

There are two types of resets for the BirdSnap camera, and knowing which one you need saves time:

  • Soft reset (restart): Reboots the camera's software without erasing any settings. Used when the camera is frozen, unresponsive, or not reconnecting to WiFi after a temporary outage.
  • Factory reset: Erases the camera's WiFi credentials and pairing information and puts the device back into setup mode. Required when switching to a new WiFi network, moving the camera to a new account, or troubleshooting a persistent connection failure.

How to Restart the Camera (Soft Reset)

Step 1 — Long-press the power button on the top of the camera for approximately 3 seconds until the device turns off.

Step 2 — Wait 10 seconds, then long-press the power button again to turn the camera back on. You will hear a "ding-dong" sound and the LED will light up.

Step 3 — The camera will reconnect to your WiFi network automatically within 1–2 minutes. If it does not, check that the network is available and within range.

How to Factory Reset the Camera

Step 1 — Locate the reset hole (marked as the P-hole) on the top of the camera, next to the power button. It is a small pinhole that requires a pin, needle, or SIM ejector tool to press.

Step 2 — Insert the pin into the reset hole and hold for 3 seconds. You will hear a prompt sound and the blue LED will begin to flash rapidly, indicating the camera has entered pairing mode.

Step 3 — Open the BirdSnap app, tap Add Device, and follow the on-screen instructions to re-pair the camera with your WiFi network.

Step 4 — Select your 2.4 GHz WiFi network when prompted and enter your password. 5 GHz networks are not supported.

What a Factory Reset Does — and Does Not — Affect

Affected by reset Not affected by reset
WiFi network and password Cloud-stored videos and photos
Device-to-account pairing Your BirdSnap account and settings
Camera settings (resolution, sensitivity) Subscription status
Alarm and sleep schedules Shared-access permissions

LED Status After Reset

Once in pairing mode, the blue LED will flash continuously. This indicates the camera is waiting to be paired through the app. If the LED does not flash after a reset attempt, try holding the pin in the reset hole for the full 3 seconds while the camera is powered on.

When to Contact Support

If the camera does not respond to a factory reset — the blue LED never flashes, or the app cannot detect the device during setup — contact the support team. Provide your camera's serial number (printed on the side of the camera), your order number, and a short video showing the LED behavior.
