Can My Spouse and I Access Our BirdSnap Camera at the Same Time on Separate Phones?

Quick Answer

Yes. Up to 3 devices can watch the live stream simultaneously, provided your WiFi signal is strong. The key is that each person uses their own separate BirdSnap account — the camera is shared between accounts rather than sharing a single login. Logging into the same account on two phones will force the first phone to log out.

What's Happening

BirdSnap accounts are designed for single-device login. If you and your spouse both log in to the same account, one phone will be signed out when the other logs in. The solution is to share the camera between two separate accounts — this way both of you can watch the same feeder independently and simultaneously without interfering with each other.

How to Set This Up

If you have not already shared your camera with your spouse's account, follow these steps:

Step 1 — Your spouse downloads the BirdSnap app and creates their own free account.

Step 2 — You generate a sharing QR code in your app: Device Settings → Share → Device Sharing.

Step 3 — Your spouse scans the code and requests access. You approve from your account.

Once sharing is set up, both of you can open the live stream at the same time from separate phones on separate accounts without any conflict.

Simultaneous Access — What to Expect

With a strong WiFi connection, up to 3 devices can view the live stream simultaneously. All three will see the same live footage in real time. If the WiFi signal is weaker, simultaneous access by multiple users can cause buffering or quality drops for all viewers — in that case, viewing one at a time is more reliable.

Note on Notification Settings

When a camera is shared, both the owner and shared users can independently choose whether they want to receive motion notifications. Each person configures their own notification preferences in their own app — there is no need to coordinate this.

When to Contact Support

If one user's live stream consistently fails to load while the other's works fine, the issue is likely related to that user's phone network or app version rather than a sharing configuration problem. Contact support with both account email addresses and a description of the issue.
