How Do I Share a Video Recorded by My BirdSnap Smart Feeder?
Quick Answer
To share a recorded video, open the BirdSnap app's Library, select the clip, and tap Save to download it to your phone's photo gallery. From there, share it through any app on your phone — WhatsApp, Instagram, email, text message, and so on. You can also take a snapshot during a live stream, which is saved directly to your gallery for immediate sharing.
What's Happening
The BirdSnap app stores motion-triggered videos in your cloud Library. To share a clip outside the app, you first need to download it to your phone's local photo gallery — once it is there, your phone's normal sharing options take over.
Step-by-Step: Sharing a Recorded Clip
Step 1 — Open the BirdSnap app and tap the Library (album) icon at the bottom of the screen. This shows your cloud-stored recordings sorted by date and time.
Step 2 — Browse to the clip you want to share. Tap on it to open playback.
Step 3 — Tap the Download or Save button (usually a downward arrow or save icon within the video view). The clip will be saved to your phone's photo gallery.
Step 4 — Open your phone's gallery, locate the downloaded clip, and share it using your preferred app — social media, messaging, email, or cloud storage.
Sharing a Live Stream Snapshot
If you want to share a quick still photo from what you are currently watching:
Step 1 — Open the live view for your BirdSnap camera in the app.
Step 2 — Tap the camera/snapshot icon on the live view screen. The photo will be saved instantly to your phone's gallery.
Step 3 — Share directly from your gallery.
Sharing Bird Videos with the BirdSnap Community
The BirdSnap app has a community video feed where users share bird footage from around the world. To contribute your own clip:
Step 1 — From the BirdSnap app, tap the video/community icon in the bottom navigation bar.
Step 2 — Tap the top-left upload icon and select the clip you want to share with the community.
Your clip will be visible to other BirdSnap users once uploaded.
Storage Reminder
Videos are only available in the cloud Library for 3 days on a free account (15 days with a subscription). If you want to keep a clip permanently, download it to your phone before it is automatically removed from the cloud.
When to Contact Support
If the Save or Download button does not appear, or if downloaded videos are not appearing in your phone gallery, the app may not have permission to access your photo library. Go to your phone's Settings → Apps → BirdSnap and ensure Storage and Photo Library permissions are enabled.
