Where Are Photos/Screenshots Saved When I Tap the Camera Icon?
Quick Answer
When you tap the snapshot/camera icon during a live stream, the photo is saved directly to your phone's photo gallery (Camera Roll on iPhone, Photos or Gallery on Android). Photos are not stored in the BirdSnap app's cloud Library — they go only to your phone's local storage.
What's Happening
The snapshot feature captures a still frame from the live stream and saves it as a standard image file on your device. This happens locally — no upload is required, so it works even if your WiFi connection is slow. The image is immediately available in your gallery for sharing or viewing.
Where to Find Your Saved Photos
iPhone: Open the Photos app → Recents or search for images from today's date.
Android: Open Google Photos, Gallery, or your phone's default photo app. Look in Recents or the BirdSnap album if one was created automatically.
If Photos Are Not Appearing in Your Gallery
The most common reason photos don't save is a missing app permission. BirdSnap needs access to your photo library or storage to save images.
On iPhone:
- Go to Settings → scroll to BirdSnap → tap it.
- Check that Photos access is set to "Add Photos Only" or "All Photos" — not "None."
On Android:
- Go to Settings → Apps → BirdSnap → Permissions.
- Ensure Storage permission is enabled.
After granting the permission, try taking a snapshot again.
Downloading Videos to Your Gallery
Downloaded video clips from the Library are also saved to your phone's gallery using the same storage path. If videos are also not saving, the same permission fix applies.
